Care workers are people who assist vulnerable people on a day-to-day basis. You'll help them with activities that they are unable to manage on their own, so your tasks must be completed with care and respect.

Some responsibilities you might have as a care worker, are helping with household chores, shopping, understanding concerns, cooking, monitoring medications, and supporting their mental health. You could work with a wide range of people, with adults, families, children, and other professionals in the same area.

This is a very different sort of job than most others because qualities like empathy and sensitivity as well as a genuine desire to help people are more important than the usual kind of qualities you might think of in the working world. However, there are things they have in common with typical jobs too, like working well under pressure, good communication skills, and good attention to detail. If you're an international graduate looking for work in health and social care in the US, and someone naturally caring, then this may be a career path worth investigating further!
