The Institutes of Science Education & Research (IISER) test is the exam for admission to BS (4 years) and BS-MS (5 years) programmes in various disciplines. The exam offers entry through three channels- the IISER Aptitude test (IAT) channel, JEE Advanced channel, and the KVPY channel. Qualifying candidates can get into IISERs in locations across the country, including Bhopal, Berhampur, Tirupati, Mohali, Pune, Kolkata, and Thiruvananthapuram. Channel-wise eligibility
IISER institutions fill up 50% of seats based on the JEE Advanced & KVPY scores. The remaining seats are filled through IAT. Seat allotment is done according to the availability of seats, candidates’ preferences, and merit list.
The three-hour exam is conducted online mode and comprises 60 multiple-choice questions with 15 questions in each section- Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
The correct answers are awarded four marks each, and the incorrect ones get a deduction of one mark each. The syllabus is from NCERT classes 11th & 12th.

There is no NRI quota for admission to IISER undergraduate courses. But NRI students can get admission through JEE Advanced rank and IISER Aptitude Test.
General/ OBC & OBC-NCL category candidates should have passed class 12 with 60% marks and SC/ ST PWD candidates should have cleared it with 55% marks. Students will be considered from Science stream if they have passed class 12 with at least three subjects among Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics
