The LIRA™ Scoring System — How Lurnable Measures University and Course Fit

LIRA™ (Lurnable Intelligence and Readiness Assessment) is a proprietary fit-scoring system that quantifies how well each university and course matches a student's profile. Here's how it works.

Most students approach university selection by looking at league tables and entry requirements. The result is a shortlist built on prestige and academic eligibility — neither of which predicts whether that university will be the right environment for that specific student. LIRA™ — Lurnable's Intelligence and Readiness Assessment — takes a different approach. It scores each university and course option against the student's verified human profile, producing a quantified fit assessment that goes far beyond rankings.

What LIRA™ Scores

LIRA™ evaluates each university and course across multiple dimensions: Academic Fit (teaching style, assessment structure, and academic culture against the student's intelligence type), Career Outcome Fit (track record of graduates entering the student's target career families), Environment Fit (campus culture, city location, and international community against personality and work preferences), Competitiveness Fit (realistic admission probability based on the student's academic profile), and Financial Fit (tuition costs, scholarship availability, and living expenses against family circumstances and debt tolerance).

A university that scores 9/10 on prestige and 5/10 on personal fit will produce a worse outcome than one that scores 7/10 on prestige and 9/10 on fit. LIRA™ helps students see this before they commit.

How LIRA™ Produces a Shortlist

When a student completes the Investigate stage of DECIDE, LIRA™ generates a scored shortlist across up to two countries of choice. Each institution is presented with its composite fit score, a breakdown by dimension, and a narrative explanation. The advisor then reviews this shortlist with the student, adding contextual knowledge — recent changes to admissions criteria, a specific department's reputation, or a nuance about the city the data cannot capture.

LIRA™ for Course and Career Direction Scoring

LIRA™ is not only used for university selection — it also applies to course and career direction evaluation during the Consider stage of DECIDE. Career direction clusters are scored against the student's PRISM™ profile across values alignment, intelligence type fit, work environment match, and long-term growth trajectory — giving students a data-backed basis for comparing options that might otherwise feel equally appealing.

Key Takeaways

  • LIRA™ scores each university across academic fit, career outcome fit, environment fit, competitiveness, and financial fit
  • It produces a personalised shortlist — not a universal ranking
  • LIRA™ also scores career direction clusters against the PRISM™ profile
  • Prestige without fit predicts poor outcomes — LIRA™ helps students see this before committing
