• In general, a medicine program in the Czech Republic takes about 6 years to complete.
• The medical degrees attained here are recognized internationally.
• If you are looking to study for a bachelor’s degree in medicine, Charles University in Hradec Kralove provides just that. This university offers a 6 year long, full time, undergraduate medical degree taught in English. But unfortunately, is one of the only ones in the Czech Republic to do so.
• Most English taught medical degrees offered in the Czech Republic, are given at a master’s level.
• Thus, if you then want to go on to study for a master’s degree in medicine, you have more options.
• Palacky University, Masaryk University and Charles University’s s 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd faculties all offer several English taught Medicine related courses taught at the master’s level.
• In general, the course structure starts with providing you with general core scientific knowledge, then moves onto pre-clinical study where you’ll learn about working in a hospital setting and eventual clinical study where you’ll get to experience and be introduced to the healthcare environment directly.
• This can all differ slightly depending on what exact university you’ll choose to study in, so we’d recommend checking the university’s website to see course information more specific to your choice of university.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

• In order to be accepted into medical school in the Czech Republic, you need to have at least 3 A-Levels.
• 2 out of the 3 need to be in Chemistry and Biology.
• You need to get at least a C or above in both of these.
• Additionally, for your AS subjects, one should be in maths or physics.
• Of course, you are also expected to pass the entrance exams. But if you have good grades (A’s and a maximum of one B), you might not have to do these.
• You will also need to prove your English proficiency, which can be done through a Skype call.

ENTRANCE EXAM

• The date for the entrance exams is usually middle to late June.
• The entrance exams are in place to test the applicant’s knowledge of maths, physics, chemistry, and biology.
• In some cases, you will also be tested via an interview in which you will be questioned on your goals, motivations, personality and so on.
• You need to score at least 190 out of 240 to pass.
• The universities will provide you with the relevant information you can use to prepare for the exams.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

• Medical schools in the Czech Republic usually require applicants to first complete an online application.
• Once this goes through and the payment of about £30 is received, you should eventually be asked to send copies of required documentation, proving your education, nationality and so on.
• More specific information on what documents the university needs you to send over will be given to you by the university.

APPLICATION DEADLINE

• The usual application deadline is around late April.
• But this varies depending on which university you are looking to apply for.

FEES FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

• The fees for these universities depend on which university you will be studying at, but the international annual fees are usually around £10,000 to £15,000

FINANCIAL AID

• The Czech government provides a scholarship for those studying for a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree or a doctoral degree. You need to have also taken a one-year long course in the Czech language. Passed the entrance exam and be planning on continuing your education.
