This article’s main focus is to inform you about how you can gain a license in Sweden if you want to practice there as a doctor.

The first step is to get the necessary documentation you need to legally live and work in Sweden. It is easier to move to Sweden from an EU country. If you come from Europe, you will not need to apply for any kind of residency to be allowed to live in Sweden. If you are looking to move to Sweden from outside the European Union there will be extra steps that you will need to take. In most cases, you can use the internet to apply for a residence permit as well as a work permit. When applying you will be asked to provide documents proving your identity, like your passport. ID or birth certificate. There will also most likely be other documents they might ask you for, like evidence that you have the finances to support yourself when living in Sweden.

Once you obtain the previously mentioned visas you can go ahead and apply for a dental license. This will require you to be fluent in Swedish. You will need to take a language proficiency exam and provide the certificate of completion along with your degrees.

When it comes to gaining your medical license, it is harder for those who come from outside of the EU just like with the Visas. You will not need a Swedish medical license if you already have a license from a different country in the European Union. All you will need to do is register your practice. For those coming from outside of the EU, before you can register your practice you will need to first apply and qualify for a Swedish medical license. If you want to work as a doctor in Sweden with a foreign degree, there are a few ways that you can go about gaining a license to practice medicine. You will either need to complete clinical training, which will last about six months. Or you can go on to gain further qualifications through the Swedish educational system.

The application fee for the license is about £185.

You can expect to make anywhere between £3,000 to £7,000 depending on what specific medical field you are working in. But on average a doctor in Sweden makes about £5,500 a month.

This brings us to the end of this article. We sincerely hope that you have found the previously mentioned information useful.
