  • All international students who wish to study at any university in Germany will need to undergo a year-long preparatory course with Studienkolleg. This is to prepare students for university in Germany.
  • At the end of this, you will need to take the entrance exam called Aufnahmeprufung. This will assess your math and German language skills.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

In some cases, you can apply directly to your chosen university. Or you can apply via the www.uni-assist.de website.

The required documentation may differ but, in most cases, you will need to provide:

  • Complete the student visa form
  • Proof that you are able to support yourself financially
  • A motivation letter
  • A copy of your passport
  • Proof of your English and German proficiency
  • Your grades

APPLICATION DEADLINE

If you are looking to start your studies in the summertime you will need to apply by mid-January. For those planning to start their course in the winter, you will need to apply by mid-July.

FEES FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Universities in Germany are free, even for international students.

SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Fortunately, tuition fees are free, so you won’t need the scholarship to help pay for that. Some universities provide financial aid when it comes to books and housing accommodation costs.
