OVERVIEW

There are a few universities in China that offer medical courses taught in English.

  • The Sichuan University in Chengdu offers a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery course. This course will be taught in English, but you will also need to study Chinese.
  • Another university that offers a medical course taught in English is the Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan. The first two years of this course are taught entirely in English, the third year is in both English and Chinese and the final two years are taught in Chinese. So eventual you will need to learn Chinese as well.
  • Lastly, Wuhan University has a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery course available. This course will be taught in English, but students will need to take a Chinese course as well.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • If you come from a non-English speaking country, you will need to take either the IELTS and score at least 6.0.
  • Or the TOEFL in which you are expected to score at least 530.
  • Most universities require you to have an overall score of at least 70% in your higher education.
  • The main subject you need to have taken is Biology.

ENTRANCE EXAM

  • As an international student, you will not have to take the Gaokao.
  • But you will most likely be required to take an entrance exam that will be given to you by the university you chose to apply to. This will not be as hard as the Gaokao.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

You can submit your application through CUCAS.

In your application, you will need to include several different documents, some of these include

  • A copy of your grades
  • A bank statement, to prove that you will be able to pay the tuition fees
  • A personal statement
  • A copy of your passport
  • Proof of your health
  • Proof of your English proficiency (either your TOEFL or IELTS score)

Additionally, you need to be between the ages of 18 and 30.

Depending on what university you are applying to the required documents may differ.

APPLICATION DEADLINE

The application deadline depends on when your course starts.

  • If you start in spring, you have until July to apply.
  • If your course starts in autumn, you have until April to submit your application.

FEES FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

The tuition fees cost around £4,728 to £5,320 a year.

SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

  • You can apply to receive the CSC Scholarship.
  • This scholarship is for all international students looking to study in China.
  • It is fully funded, it covers tuition fees, as well as living and accommodation expenses and health insurance.
